ugradMUD
After 4 years of development, several false starts, and a lot of blood, sweat and tears, ugradMUD (named after the server it originated on) is finally opening for it's first real round of beta testing.

We are based on CircleMUD 3.1, and have taken full advantage of the helpful tbaMUD community by using their guidance and adminstrative code.

Theme: Medieval Fantasy
Genre: Hack and Slash, RP Optional

We have two factions, light and dark. In our beta stages, we are only opening the light races, to ensure that newcomers have a 'polished' experience. We have 4 races in total, and 14 classes. There are 100 mortal levels. Again, only half of both will be available during our early beta stages.

Each race has its own unique hometown and newbie zone. This is no small claim; and it has been the main reason that has delayed beta opening for so long.

You can connect at: micromud.mcp-server.com port 5556

if you are at all interested in giving us a chance.

Hope to see you around.

Thanks goes to this whole community, without which this game would have died out a long time ago.

Just an update, and a legitimate excuse to bump the OP.

We have nearly completed our dark continent assembly. This means we have opened orc as a playable race. The only race not yet playable is goblin, which we plan to have ready soon.

We are really doing well at sorting out problems and issues, thanks to the beta testers that have already spent some time with us. However we still do need more people! So come check it out; I think you'll be pleasantly surprised that this isn't just another CircleMUD Sandbox to play in.

Hope to see you around!

I am happy to announce that we have completed our last race for version 1.0 which we are eager to launch.

Beta testing is *practically* over now, while nonetheless we will remain in that state for another week or so before we do our official pwipe and game launch which will be on or before March 1st, 2010.

This is your chance to come get a feel for our world before we launch officially with a clean player slate!

We hope to see you around.

What did they change about their corpse retrieval process?

If your corpse is behind a locked door, or an aggro mob happens to be guarding it, you can retrieve your corpse from a mortician-style mob from any of the race's home towns.

In fact you can get your corpse that way regardless of how you died; and this of course does not prevent you from retrieving it the old fashioned way if you prefer.
