Connect through IP
I'm using tbaMUD codebase to make a small personal game/chat room for me and a few friends, but I am having troubles. It configures and compiles beautifully, and it works wonders when I connect from the host computer with localhost, but can't seem to figure out how to connect from another location. I try to use the host computer's IP with telnet but it says the connection was refused. I'm positive I'm using the right IP and port. Any help? The version I'm using is tbamud-3.61

EDIT: Sorry about this. It seems that a hardware firewall was getting in the way. It works now.

No problem, this comes up a lot. Most home networks are behind a firewall router so you need to forward the port (google your router model and "port forwarding" for details). Glad you figured it out.

Thanks for the advice. My plan was to disconnect the router and stick with a software firewall, but your tip is much better. Thanks again.
